Specialists
Malawi | Minimum 3 weeks from mid 2026
We need specialists with the following expertise:
- Primary teachers
- Early childhood teachers
- Accountants
- Agronomists
- Builders & Plasterers
- Nutritionists
- Forest managers
- Administrators
- Translators (Chichewa and English)
- Solar power specialists
- Bus drivers
- Software engineers, app designers, FinTech specialists
Generalists
Malawi | Minimum 3 weeks from mid 2026
If you don’t have experience with any of the specialist roles above, perhaps you can help us as an unpaid volunteer:
- Building windmills, tree houses, boats, and playgrounds
- Organising the toy competitions, making toys, or designing toys
- Video editing
- Letter writing
- Truck driving (must have a valid driver’s license)
- Making/playing instruments
Please Note: All volunteers will be expected to live on Chisi Island, Lake Chilwa, and take at least two hours of Chichewa language lessons five days per week.
Living on Chisi Island means:
- Two hours travel to the nearest hospital
- Limited electricity (no fridge)
- No indoor plumbing
- Rural village life (with limited privacy during daylight hours)
